Fear is an Illusion: Why Your Brain Triggers Fear

Many of us treat fear like a bridge we can't cross, fear is an illusion created by uncertainty.

Your brain blocks new experiences because it lacks the experience [exposure] to predict the outcome. So it defaults to a "worst-case scenario" to keep you alive.

Fear isn't rejection, its redirection toward something magical in life.

When you've never experienced something in your life, the uncertainty of not knowing what's going to happen creates an uneasy feeling and emotion of anxiety and panic.

It's best to do things that are meaningful where it doesn't matter if don't get it right the first time. You'll know when you tell yourself [I'll figure it out] I'm committed no matter what.

Let's take a look at a few examples:

Example 1: The [Confident] Driver

You are about to get your drivers license, you then realize that your going to need to jump in a car with a total stranger and demonstrate that you know how to drive.

You level of fear is based on your level of confidence you have in your self, your skills and abilities and second if you love driving, fear now becomes your outlet of excitement. [I'm gonna show off]

Example 2: The [Anxious] Patient

You walk into a doctors office for the first time. You hear the doctor is new and learning. You overheard employees giggle and laugh, I feel sorry for that patient. Those word set off an alarm in your mind. [Uncertainty of safety or harm due to lack in the doctors experience]

Does this doctor know what he's doing, am I safe in his care. Why was those employee feeling bad for me. Now I don't feel safe. [Fear] due to lacking the confidence that you will be safe, unharmed and fine after the procedure.

Example 3: The [Best] Decision [It must be worth it]

Ever by a product on Amazon and make your decisions from product reviews. Who has the most stars and positive reviews?

You decrease your chances of purchasing something that your going to regret because of all those positive reviews. You proceed and click purchase and never look back.

The less experience, exposure and information we have, the greater the potential harm or risk it indicates [Potential Threat, Risk, Caution] in a person.

The more experience, exposure and information you have about something, the more comfort, security and peace of mind you gain in a person, place or thing.

Fear is uncertainty in disguise, it's also a great teacher and mentor to life lessons that open doors to endless possibilities. The more comfort you gain, the more clarity and confidence you build in what used to fear you the most.

When you fear something challenge the idea for yourself.

[Reframe] your fear into positive what if's... [What if it goes right?]

What are all of the best possible outcomes? List them all...

The only thing worth doing should be meaningful, where your life purpose becomes your life mission.
